Kathleen is a longtime member of the Palm Desert Rotary Club and the Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce, volunteering to support our community and our local businesses.
Kathleen led the Joslyn Senior Center Board as President and launched a visioning effort that culminated in today's Wellness Center: a broad array of services meeting needs for seniors at all income levels, including counseling.
The needs of seniors are of central concern to Kathleen, who is privileged to serve as caregiver to her mother (age 99). She understands that many seniors do not have family nearby who can assure socialization and oversee medical care. She regularly connects people to the array of services available through the Joslyn and the County's Office on Aging.
In 2012, South Palm Desert's Historic Shadow Mountain Golf Course was likely to close. Kathleen was a key leader among more than 200 neighbors who worked hard to preserve this precious resource, putting her own nest egg at risk. With Lindi Biggi's new ownership in 2022, this beautiful open space is again thriving as a wonderful South Palm Desert gathering place.
For 2 years, Kathleen (as an ordained minister in the Episcopal Church) served as Interim Leader at St. Margaret's Church.
"As the leader in a time of transition, Kathleen was able to see both sides of any issue. She always managed to find a solution that produced cohesion and unity. She is a master at conflict resolution. As Treasurer, I greatly appreciated her knowledge of the budget and her fiscal competence. "
